My goal:

examining the role of designer education in confronting the consumptive society

The context:

Half-year master research project, which evolved into ‘Dusting Off Design’

What I did:

hosting structured talks with fellow designers on their key design values and skills for Industrial Design at TU/e. Writing a brightly coloured scientific paper. Building alternative vacuum cleaners. Giving an activist presentation at the ‘demoday’ including constructive tips for post-consumer society education.

What I learned:

Where activism begins and scientific investigation ends. How more persuasion and conversation is essential to transform a university.
