My goal:

Designing for an unknown target group and client

The context:

Half-year master project, commissioned by student housing company Vestide, together with Joey del Castilho and Isidoros Kotinis. With the assignment to improve the sense of community among new students.

What I did:

Observing a multitude of ‘communities’ through ethnographic research. Experimenting with different furnishings and the impact of those small interventions for the residents of the new flat. Frustrating myself about the difficult transformation within large organisations. Collaborating with social design studio Cocosmos

What I learned:

The value of observing a design context, using ethnography as a tool for that. Communicating and mediating better between target group and client and sometimes being a little milder about it myself.
