My goal:
learning to design for a healthier "mother earth"
The context:
3-month master-course, together with Zander van den Elzen, Tess Geerts, Giovanni Sapienza & Pin-Yuan Wang. As a goal: creating a cycling path that is kinder to its natural environment.
What I did:
trying to talk to the birds, wind and bottom-dwelling insects, using design interventions as a tool. Grinding piles of paper and other natural leftover material into coloured pulp tiles. Observing that cyclists are quite anti-social, against geese, bunnies and walkers.
What I learned:
natural materials are often within reach, inexpensive and can be processed with basic tools. Design doesn't always have to last long, as long as its breakdown is useful. Nature tells us more than you think, if you just listen to her carefully.
